Summary

Mitch Rapp confronts a very different kind of killer in the explosive new thriller in Vince Flynn’s #1 New York Times bestselling series, written by Kyle Mills。

With President Anthony Cook convinced that Mitch Rapp poses a mortal threat to him, CIA Director Irene Kennedy is forced to construct a truce between the two men。 The terms are simple: Rapp agrees to leave the country and stay in plain sight for as long as Cook controls the White House。 In exchange, the administration agrees not to make any moves against him。

This fragile détente holds until Cook’s power-hungry security adviser convinces him that Rapp has no intention of honoring their agreement。 In an effort to put him on the defensive, they leak the true identity of his partner, Claudia Gould。 As Rapp races to neutralize the enemies organizing against her, he discovers that a new generation of assassins is on her trail。 A killer known to intelligence agencies only as Legion。

The shadowy group has created a business model based on double-blind secrecy。 Neither the killer nor the client knows the other’s identity。 Because of this, Legion can’t be called off nor can they afford to fail。 No matter how long it takes—weeks, months, years—they won’t stand down until their target is dead。 Faced with the seemingly impossible task of finding and stopping Legion, Rapp and his people must close ranks against a world that has turned on them。

This one was the best installment in this series since Vince Flynn died and Kyle Mills took over the writing。 The plot incorporated a bit of the "frivolous" into the plot and also some rather quirky characters that made it a surprisingly jaunty read。 The plot included Mitch Rapp going into a face off with the new US President and his staff。 Claudia's past is uncovered and she is targeted for a hit and Rapp and his team swing into action to move the target off her back to the President in a rathe This one was the best installment in this series since Vince Flynn died and Kyle Mills took over the writing。 The plot incorporated a bit of the "frivolous" into the plot and also some rather quirky characters that made it a surprisingly jaunty read。 The plot included Mitch Rapp going into a face off with the new US President and his staff。 Claudia's past is uncovered and she is targeted for a hit and Rapp and his team swing into action to move the target off her back to the President in a rather interesting manner。 Good stuff and surprising ending。 。。。more

WOW what a great read。 Kyles Mills has sure got it right。 Taking over for Vince Flynn was the only choice。 I loved the book and it sure is worth 5 stars。 Action from the beginning to the end。 Mitch, Claudia and Anna try to make a life together only to complicated by assassins hired to kill Claudia。 Irene comes back to resolve the issue。 It was a page turner and I highly recommend the read。

A great book with less violence and more strategy when facing an opponent。 See how Mitch Rapp handles his greatest opponent - the President of the United States !

It's no secret that I'm a Mitch Rapp fan and that I have enjoyed the series with Kyle Mills at the keyboard。 In the last book, Enemy at the Gates, which ended in a bombshell that left fans polarized。 In fact, I had a discussion with Kyle and his intention and my interpretation were almost completely different。 And I wasn't alone。 I was pleasantly surprised when Oath of Loyalty began with the last chapter of Enemy at the Gates, but from Rapp's perspective whereas Enemy's ending was from that of M It's no secret that I'm a Mitch Rapp fan and that I have enjoyed the series with Kyle Mills at the keyboard。 In the last book, Enemy at the Gates, which ended in a bombshell that left fans polarized。 In fact, I had a discussion with Kyle and his intention and my interpretation were almost completely different。 And I wasn't alone。 I was pleasantly surprised when Oath of Loyalty began with the last chapter of Enemy at the Gates, but from Rapp's perspective whereas Enemy's ending was from that of Mike Nash。 Clever and fresh。The narcissistic president (is that redundant?) and his much smarter First Lady had a plan that ended badly。 And doubling down, created an enemy of the world's most prolific assassin and one of the most loyal Americans。 They basically turned the country on its ear and continued to find themselves in their own hole while frantically digging deeper and faster。 They set out on a plan to eliminate Rapp by proxy, thinking themselves so clever, but the subterfuge was too obvious and ineffective。 While their campaign to take him out put Rapp on the ropes, that is exactly where he fights best from。 The book is fast-paced with extremely artistic character evolution and dialogue that was spot on and made me laugh out loud many times。 I found myself wondering whether Sadie Hansen was patterned after an amalgamation of some of my ex-girlfriends。 I just couldn't put it down。 I found myself reading the book during the day and the e-version on my iPad at night。 Kyle put his foot on my neck and wouldn't let up until I got to the last chapter which ended in a most unexpected way。 Checkmate。 (That actually might be a good title for the next book。。。 ) If you put the series down, go pick it up with Enemy at the Gates and go straight to Oath of Loyalty。 Others have said this is the best book yet。。。 and I concur。 The guns and tactics stuff was simple outstanding, as always! ;-) 。。。more

Mills has had the incredible ability up until now to channel Vince Flynn。 This one started out as good as ever but the second half was rather lackluster and so didn’t seem like a book that Flynn would have written。

classic Mitch RappAction packed and fascinating! Kennedy was genius as usual and Mitch was the badass he always is。 Must read book for all

Another awesome Mitch Rapp story with lots of twists and turns as good takes on evil。

a typical Mitch Rapp romp - now fighting an evil President and his worse, scheming power-hungry First Lady!! Crew still here - Scott Coleman and gang, Irene Kennedy。 Will Mitch retire to the country with Claudia Gould and Anna? Think again。

George Guidall, narratorI really wait for each of Vince Flynn’s new books。 My husband and I listen to the Mitch Rapp series as we drive to and fro。 They are really entertaining and absorbing, usually, but this one, although read well by Guidall, was not as exciting as his previous books。When Mitch discovers that his close friend, Mike Nash, has been sent to either recruit him to support President Tony Cook, or to eliminate him, he manages to turn the tables, and there are disastrous results for his friend when he takes his own life。 Now, however, Mitch is on the run。 It seems that the President of the United States, Anthony Cook (Tony), a man of questionable character, and his wife, Catherine, have dreams of grandeur, and they want him out of the way。 He is dangerous to their plan to control the government and the country by eliminating all adversaries and changing the world order to fit their ideals。 Already they have been able to remove Irene Kennedy, former director of the CIA, without violence, but not amicably, as Tony puts his Chief of Staff and advisor, Darren Hargrave into her shoes and office as Acting Director。 Although Catherine did not trust Hargrave, she was powerless to stop him from getting inside the President’s head and pushing her out of the picture。 Meanwhile, they are still set on eliminating Mitch Rapp and even Claudia Gould (who was once on the wrong side of the law, and a terrorist herself, working alongside her husband, whom Mitch murders), and her daughter Anna, attributing it to collateral damage。 Claudia is living under an assumed name with Mitch。 To flush Mitch out, Hargrave decides to leak Claudia’s name and whereabouts to her enemies。 Catherine disagrees with the plan。 She believes that they can compromise with Rapp, that they can neutralize him, and not have him as a dangerous and formidable enemy, but Hargrave ratchets up Cook’s fear。 He becomes almost his puppet, and is terrified of Rapp’s possible attempts on his life。 He begins to stay out of sight and becomes almost reclusive to Catherine’s utter chagrin。 She believes he is ruining his future because of his inability to think straight。 She has always been the brains and he the personality, but now he listens to someone else and remains in hiding。The most exciting scenes take place at Rapp’s super fortified house in South Africa, with Claudia and Anna in a safe room, as they come under a ferocious attack sponsored by the US government, Hargrave and Cook。 After the failed attempts on Rapp and Gould, they take refuge at Nick Ward’s protected compound in Uganda。 There they find Irene, as well who conspires with them for their safety。 No one really knows who will win this war, but many unscrupulous and violent partners are involved as each tries to eliminate the other。 Finally, Hargrave recommends using a group called Legion。 They are expensive, but they are considered the failsafe opportunity to finally end their conflict。 Someone has to disappear, and they want it to be Rapp。 As it plays out, it seems fairly obvious who will be standing at the end because this is most definitely not the end of the series。Legion is a group of three women, originally trained to be human weapons, killers, masterminds of terror, leaving no footprint behind, to be used against Israel。 When the Iranian Revolutionary Guard had a change of leadership, their program was eliminated and they were reassigned to the typing pool as a means of humiliating them。 Instead, the three survivors of the program eliminated the commander, brutally, and went out on their own。 When it is discovered that Legion has been hired to trap them, they know that they are in trouble。 Legion has never failed to capture and eliminate its prey。 Mitch wants to definitely know who is behind this effort to trap him down, so he can go after them。 He believes he knows who it is, but he has no proof。 Irene Kennedy devises a plan, and as it plays out, the story is obvious, but interesting。 It is just not edge of your seat interesting, as more and more devious ways are designed to eliminate each other, but it is intriguing。There are times when the reader may try to figure out which President of ours Cook is supposed to be most like, but ultimately, the reader may be forced to decide that he is simply a combination of all we do not want a President to actually be。 So let this be a warning to the reader to be more careful when it comes time to elect a leader。 The vote is the only weapon。 Think about all of the ramifications before a decision is made。I thought the best thing about the book was that it left the door open for Claudia, Mitch and Anna to reappear in the next book in the series。 Hopefully, it will have more action than this one did。 The script was fairly obvious from the beginning, since nothing untoward was going to happen to those three。 My final thought was long live Mitch Rapp。 。。。more

Loved this book。 One of my favorites in the Mitch Rapp series。 Kyle Mills has done a phenomenal job taking over after Vince Flynn’s passing。 Those were big shoes to fill。

This isn't the most exciting or over-the-top action filled book in the series but it's different than what most American thriller writers are adamant at doing and I want to reiterate just one more time that Kyle Mills is doing a vastly better job of writing Rapp novels than Vince Flynn ever did。 This isn't the most exciting or over-the-top action filled book in the series but it's different than what most American thriller writers are adamant at doing and I want to reiterate just one more time that Kyle Mills is doing a vastly better job of writing Rapp novels than Vince Flynn ever did。 。。。more

This might be the best Mitch Rapp book yet。 Picking up immediately after Enemy at the Gates (which you need to read to understand this one), Mitch is in South Africa, minding his own business when the President of the United States is convinced by an advisor that Mitch is actually plotting his assassination。 A truce between the two is made, but that same advisor just can't leave well enough alone。 What follows is an action-packed story that hops continents and brings out old enemies and allies。P This might be the best Mitch Rapp book yet。 Picking up immediately after Enemy at the Gates (which you need to read to understand this one), Mitch is in South Africa, minding his own business when the President of the United States is convinced by an advisor that Mitch is actually plotting his assassination。 A truce between the two is made, but that same advisor just can't leave well enough alone。 What follows is an action-packed story that hops continents and brings out old enemies and allies。Part of the brilliance of this book is how close to reality it is。 The author uses the current state of divisiveness as a background to an ambitious power couple who have manipulated their way to the highest office in the land with a plan to remake the world。 They recognize the power of corporations and the media in controlling what people hear and believe。 Mitch is tough and has contacts all over the world, but he knows he can't win against the power of the United States military。 But assassination and hiding in the shadows in his forte。 The chess match between Mitch and his team against the president and his team is crazy good。 The dialogue is excellent, and the wit that peeks through on occasion adds a spot of levity during this thrill-ride。While Enemy at the Gates was bleak, this one has an undercurrent of hope。 We may not be too far gone。 Maybe we can turn this runaway train around。 Hopefully there really is a Mitch Rapp out there, doing his best to keep us from falling apart。Highly recommend。Not family friendly due to profanity and violence。 。。。more
